My Top Three Movies

1. The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Rocky Horror Picture Show was hilarious as much as it was crude. It was sexy, enticing, and even a little confusing. I fell in love with the wicked Frankfurter and the ludicrous events that transpired in his lab. Though musicals can be very annoying at times there was an exception made for RHPS.

2. Girl, Interrupted

Based on Susanna Kaysen's time in a mental institute, Girl, Interrupted reminds me I'm not crazy, but society's view on women is. This movie is empowering by demonstrating the female mind and how our views of ourself are so destroyed from the oppression we face in our day to day lives. This movie also displays the human fear of being mentally ill. Susanna denied her illness for months even though she was in a hospital, out of fear that if she admitted to trying to kill herself she would be like the other girls in the hospital who had been there for years with no sign of reform.

3. The Great Gatsby
Leonardo DiCaprio is amazing as Jay Gatsby, and the beautiful Carey Mulligan (Daisy Buchanan) was the jewel of the film. The vivid details in the set and the gorgeous costumes made it feel like I was back in the 1920's. The actors/actresses did a phenomenal job of displaying the greed of capitalism and the inevitable heartbreak of a love affair.
